After several years of successful collaboration, the delivery from Zeek Solutions to OKEA will continue through 2026-2028. The solution has provided improved insight into safety barriers and a more efficient working day, and is now being expanded with integration to OKEA’s CMMS system.
From pilot projects to stable operations over time
The collaboration between OKEA and Zeek Solutions began with SPAS pilot projects, before moving into full-scale operations. After three years in production, the solution has proven its value in practice – both technically and operationally.
“When we can point to completed pilots, three years of operation, and then a renewal of the agreement, that is a very positive confirmation,” says Jon Slang, CEO of Zeek Solutions.
During the initial three-year period, OKEA used a base application package that provided continuous visibility into the status of instrumented safety barriers, to verify intact safity level and compliance with applicable regulations.
Better overview and less manual work with SPAS
SPAS has contributed to a more efficient workday at OKEA by automating the monitoring of safety functions and clearly identifying barriers that are impaired or defect.
“SPAS has given us valuable insight into the reliability of the instrumented barriers. The solution makes it easy to identify and address ‘bad actors’, and we can spend less time on manual work as SPAS provides automatic confirmation of the status of safety functions,” says Anne Lene Rømuld, Lead Control & Automation Engineer at OKEA.
This not only provides a better basis for decision-making, but also supports regulatory compliance and contributes to more robust operations.
Expanding the solution with CMMS integration
After several years of use, OKEA is now taking the next step in the collaboration by expanding the solution with integration to its CMMS system. This module opens up new opportunities for data flow, reporting, and interaction between systems.
The integration builds on th existing solution and makes it easier to connect technical status, maintenance activities, and safety follow-up – without increasing complexity for end users.
Modular application packages in SPAS
SPAS Basic is an application package that provides users with what they need to monitor technical safety functions, and to detect and present deviations in a simple and clear way.
SPAS CMMS is an add-on package focused on reducing the end user’s need for manual effort across various activities.
The application package includes integration with work order and permit-to-work applications, and:
- reduces the need for manual function testing
- streamlines the planning and execution of function tests
- improves the process of registering, identifying root causes of, and understanding deviations
- streamlines internal and external reporting of the condition of safety functions
In addition, SPAS can be offered with a range of other applications that further increase user value.
A flexible model for continued development
Zeek Solutions offers a modular pricing model with a core solution and optional extensions, such as CMMS integration and customized reports. This gives OKEA the flexibility to adapt the solution to its needs, while allowing the platform to evolve over time.
With a strong focus on continuous improvement, safety, and value in every delivery, the collaboration provides a solid foundation for further development—based on real needs and documented results.
